About the Area
Quiet streets, big backyard
Beacon Hill sits in Ottawa's east end, tucked between the Greenbelt, Rothwell Heights, and Highway 174. Built primarily in the 1960s and 70s, it's divided into Beacon Hill North and Beacon Hill South by Montreal Road, each with its own character but sharing the same well-rooted, family-oriented feel.
The neighbourhood takes its name from a lighthouse that once stood on the Ottawa River — the light was visible from the top of the hill on Naskapi Drive. That ridge is now Ski Hill Park, a beloved local spot for winter sledding and year-round trail walking. Despite being well east of the core, downtown Ottawa is only about 15 minutes away.
